About Table Mountain

Table Mountain is famous for its distinctive flat top, the iconic “tablecloth” cloud phenomenon, and one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature.  It is one of the world’s oldest mountains, with its rocks dating back more than 600 million years. A modern cableway provides a fast way to reach the summit, with the journey taking just 3 – 4 minutes.  Visitors can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views from the summit.

Age: There is no strict age limit for Table Mountain, but children under 4 are not charged by the Cableway. While the cableway is suitable for all ages, a parent’s judgement is crucial, especially for young children.

Weather: The cable car may close due to high winds (often above 35 km/h, though the decision is at the operator’s discretion)

Maintenance:  The cableway closes annually for maintenance.

Last ride:  It’s important to know the time of the last cable car down, which is signaled by a siren
